THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM VISITED ECO TOURISM BASED COMMUNITIES

The ministry of tourism visited Koh Kong Province last January 9 and 10 to attend the inauguration of the news center in Chi Phat Commune Thmar Bang District. The minister himself Mr. Thong Khon and Mr. Prum Heun Chairman of the Eco tourism community were present on the said event. They also visited some eco tourism areas such as Veal Ta Prak and Ancient Jar, the said areas may be turned into an eco tourism community. Also in Koh Kong the Minister visited Tatay a place where there are foreign investors, and has eco tourism lodge. They minister encouraged both local and foreign investors to be a part in building eco tourism sites in such provinces. But it was emphasized that investors should follow the technical standard of ministry of environment which is the basic care for the environment. It was also mentioned that officials from the Ministry of will report those who will violate all these technical standard that was set by the ministry of environment and a present will be given for those who followed the said standard the ministry. Cambodia tourism situation
Noticeably, the tourism industry of Cambodia remains status-quo of its increase; even though, the incident of skirmish occurred along the Cambodian-Thai frontier in the area nearby the world famous Preah Vihear temple -- the World Heritage on 15th October 2008. Now, the situation was peacefully resolved without any affect to tourism industry and business.
The report in January - Preah Vihear Temple (Prasat Preah Vihear)
Is a Hindu temple situated atop 525-meter cliff in the Dangrek Mountains in the Preah Vihear Province. In 1962 the International Court of Justice in the Hague ruled that it belonged to Cambodia. The temple gives the name to local province Preah Vihear, in which is located. On July 7, 2008, Preah Vihear was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Tourism Statistic Report of 2008
After a 12.6% increase in the first half of 2008, growth in international tourist arrivals moved into -1.2% in the second half of 2008. The final result was 2.125 million international tourist arrivals to Cambodia, representing a growth of 5.5% compared to the 2007.
